hi
ive got a 1994 1000 CLX FIRE and it starts up fine most of the time but after about 10 minutes of driving the car starts idleing on 3000 rpm and pulls without touching the accererator, its not the throttle cable as i checked it and thats fine also it will do it if you leave it on idle. ive checked the vaccum cables and they all seem fine and theres no whistling. i took apart the butterfly valve thing apart and cleaned it, i didnt touch the actual injector and im hoping its not that. so i was wondering if anyone has any idea about what to do.

also the little red warning light on the dash is constantly on and i fitted a new cat about 3 weeks ago. the warning light has been intermetently on for about five weeks but has only had idle problems since yesterday.
any ideas would be greatly appricated.

It's good that your warning light is on as it means that a test will tell you which sensor is playing up. Shop around your local garages for one that has the test equipment and will run a check for you at the lowest price, as a guide, this check takes about 10 minutes so shouldn't cost more than about £15. I used to go to a Fiat specialist who would only charge me a fiver cash to do this, sadly I don't live in the area anymore :(.

They will most likely find a fault with the temp sensor, lambda sensor, etc.

Thanks for the advice im going to swap over the fuel filter as i think its clogged but I dont think its the cause. I got a new lamda sensor with the cat so I dont think thats the problem, but i think I might just have to take it somewhere. thank you though.

As you've already renewed the Lambda sensor you could try the temp sensor before going for a test, they're only about £12 from a motor factors. When I had problems with mine I was getting a fast tickover, don't think it was quite as high as yours though.

cheers for your help i swapped out my thermostat and that fixed the idle and injector light. the fuel filters on order and taking ageeeeeees, but a new problem has arisen (which im hoping the new filter will fix) it seems to hesitate in the lower gears like 1,2,3 and judders quite a bit. i can fix it by riding the clutch like a old women but when you need to do fast pull aways its a pain in the ass. ive tried flooring it in all the gears to see if that clears the system but it hasnt done much. like i said im hoping its just a fuel block in the filter but any ideas anyone?
