Idle problem - Please help!!!

Hi,

When starting my car this morning the car wouldn't start without tickling the accelerator. As soon as I took my foot off the accelerator the revs would drop, and the car would stall. After a while, the car didn't stall, but the rev's would drop lower than 500rpm before idling at 800 - 1000 rpm. A couple of times when the car stalled, I noticed the injection system failure light flash on the dash as it stalled, I don't know if this is of any significance.

Any ideas what the problem could be, and how I can solve it?

The car is a X reg (2000) 1.2 Bravo 80SX

Take it to fiat, the 1.2 is fly-by-wire and bloody complex.

Tom-any chance this would be the automatic choke not functioning?

Injection cars have no 'automatic choke'.

Thanks for the advice guys. The strangest thing is my dad drove it last night and it started and drove fine, and it is working as it normally does this morning too. Think i will still take it to a dealership and have them run a diagnostic on the ECU or somethin, just to be on the safe side, any idea how much they would charge? I know its gonna vary between dealerships, just wonding about a ball park figure.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. I started driving and the revs kept dropping when i took my foot off the accelerator and the car would stall!

I was fairly low on fuel at the time (nowhere near empty tho)and managed to get the station and refilled it. Following this the car was fine....v odd.

Maybe had a particularly bad qality fuel in the bottom of the tank??

Neway the car is fine now, so perhaps urs will do the same?!

Well the day before this happened i was a bit low on petrol. The warning light had just come on, but ive been lower before and never had this problem, and i only got it once i had tanked up

reset the ecu matey, overnight if possible.
my car did this when nige just finished tuning it.
something to do with settings but who knows
give it a go
