ice the beginning.....where do I start?

any tips/advice for me? I'm looking into upgrading my stereo, speakers etc.

not sure where to start....speakers/amp/HU??.......I want nothing chavvy, dont want to spend thousands [just a couple of hundred] and I want someting which I can use my ipod with. Its also got to be loud!!!:woot:

OK, I'm in the process of putting together a little something about budget ICE installs (i.e. a total budget of no more than £500).

I would advise

decent HU (with iPod capability )
front components, amped
Sub and amp
Good thick wiring
Sound deadening (if budget allows - will also make your music seem louder by cutting out background noise)

Oh, I forgot - it's also handy knowing what car you have We can recommend stuff for you then

I've got an 03 plate punto [is this mk1 or mk2, not sure yet!-{the badge isnt on the grill its on the bonnnet!!}]

I will spend around £300

I should get the HU first then look into amps right?! whats the deal with speakers....should I not get them untill I have an amp? figure they may blow otherwise!!

I've seen some stuff about the punto's doors not accomodating speakers? will this by on mine too? I do have manual windows!

Depends how bad your speakers sound at the moment, which is the problem I'm having with my Doblo. You could get the head unit you like now, then if you need to save up for other stuff as you go along, since you already have the headunit, you can plug in and go! You'll only be able to see just how bad your speakers would sound with a different aftermarket heatunit if you borrowed a friends for an hour and tried that out

:yuck: iPods, belong in pockets not cars, LOL!

My advice would be to buy second hand, especially amps.
