just trying to set up my amp and sub, need to connect something to the remote terminal on the amp, but don't know what. I have no head unit as such, i am running tunes from a PC. The amp is a Sony X-plod 222w
and the instructions are a bit vauge, saying 'if you have no remote output, connect to the power of your accesory' which is Really helpful, not!

Just run a 12v power source from your PC to the remote on your amp...Sorted!

It will also only power up when your PC is on :)

Re: Re: ice help needed

Thinking about it more, your better off running the 12v from the PC into a relay, incase the 12v from the PC is out of phase...

Re: Re: ice help needed

that's a good idea daz :)

When they say accessory circuit they mean the first turn on your key, when the lights and radio etc come on but the engine isn't running. You can get a feed off your key barrel or from the radio etc.

Re: Re: Re: ice help needed

erm i got lost about the time you said relay, and phase thats a star trek thing isn't it?

Re: Re: Re: ice help needed

so if i srip down a molex connector from in the pc and jam that on it might work without a relay, how would i tell if it was out of phase?

Re: Re: Re: Re: ice help needed

Connect a multimeter between a 12v from the car and the 12v from the PC...if the display shows about 1v or less then your in phase...

Make sure your car isn't running at the time, otherwise you will be testing 14.4v against 12v :)

k thanks, i'll go buy a multimeter tomorrow, in the mean time if I set it up how would I tell if it's out of phase, noisewise?

I want to die peacefully in my sleep like grandpa, not screaming like the passengers in his car!

When your amp starts to smoke? ;)

To be honest i'm not sure, but i wouldnt connect your PC to your Amp until your know that its ok.

If you want to get your amp working until you get a multimeter, just run a little wire from the + on your amp, to the remote...(remember to disconnect when your finished), and make sure you dont catch it on anything!
