.....an engine mount has snapped, and you remove the only thing keeping the engine from falling out of the bottom

CRASH, the engine falls to the floor :bang:

Remind me never to remove the throttle body from the engine of a smashed up Panda when the TB is slightly imbedded in the bulk head and holding the engine in the air

Also cut my finger :(

And found a hole in the gearbox :(

As the hole is only in the cast, they gearbox should go again shouldn't it

Jon.

Clean fingernails for someone with their hands in an engine bay!
Do you wear gloves? :p

Funny enough, when uploading pic I though  Look cleaner than they did when I cut my finger.

Nope, don't wear gloves, just been washed before putting plaster on cut finger (y)

Although I do keep a bucket of water by the side of the car to regularly rinse hands in to stop them getting to grubby (first time I've done it and it seems to work well :)).

The mice around your way have stronger teeth than the ones here.

And yes, the gearbox may well be OK if that part of the casting is the only damage.

Lol. Many thanks. Shall be inspecting the gearbox properly when removed. If nothing else I'll strip it for bits if it's no good whole. Will be doing the same with engine (stripping for bits) as thats compleatly US'ed. Fly wheel bent and sheared engine mount. :(

Jon, Which panda is this happening to? the 750?

The smashed Selecta.

I managed to almost completly strip the engine wiring loom out of it yesterday. Just got to take it though bulk head.

Should have car in a stripped state ready for engine and gearbox removal by the end of the day. Engine bay looks a bit different now it's been stripped a fair bit.

Surprising what you can do to bent body work with a crow bar also :p :)

Just drifting slightly off topic for a mo,

Jon,

Have you seen the new IOTY nominations from the surf mob yet ? If you want some light relief you will like them :D :ROFLMAO:
