Hello,

So last night I attempted to start my car and it didn't do anything, not even a partial noise. I assumed a simple fix of changing the battery and it didn't do anything either, still the same problem.

When I try to start the car and I let go of the Key there is a ticking noise from the black box at the top right of the car under the hood (which I think are the fuses which have been checked and everything is fine).

On the dashboard the "Key Code" light is on as well as a red light that looks similar to spark plugs but I don't know what that means. A picture is included of the lights.

This is my first car and it was bought two days ago, recently serviced and it came back with nothing needed as well as no advisories.

In all honesty i'm bad with cars so small words are appreciated.

Thanks everyone, Brandon.

Think it may be a simple fix . The battery may not hold a charge so see if the main beam headlights work for more than a minuet or two . then check all the main conections and clean the earths The clicking sounds or usually the electronic switches working . but there is not enough power to turn the engine over . If the engine turns over but does not start then it is more complex .

Thank you for your message,

I bought a new battery and it was the same issue. The engine doesn't tick over or make a noise so I have no idea.

I've attempted to do the emergency start procedure and it doesn't work as the warning light doesn't signal me to enter the code.

Sometimes I'll turn it to MAR and the dashboard lights will be normal but the car will still not start.

I'm so confused and I am far from a mechanic as this is my first car.

If you have any other suggestions i'd seriously appreciate it.

Hi Brandon ,and welcome to FF,:)

Car's dead in 2 days...:( not good - how far have you driven it..??

Basics,

does the engine spin over trying to start.. or does the engine not move?

have you got 2 x keys?? - the car cannot RUN / DRIVE unless the KEYCODE light goes out;)

The "emergency procedure" is a "last resort" as it will need to be cleared by a FIAT dealer, before a normal KEY-start can work again( AFAIK)

let us know (y)

I drove it barely two miles after purchasing the car and it has been sitting on the drive for two days doing nothing. Seemed fine but now nothing.

The engine doesn't move as far as i'm aware, I have two keys one blue and the other red.

Sometimes the keycode light won't be there once I turn the blue key to MAR though the car still does not start. The engine hasn't made a noise since the problem has occurred.

My girlfriends dad is a mechanic so hopefully tomorrow i'll get some good news, if I do i'll be sure to post anything in the forum to help others with a similar problem if they get one.

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate the help!

Hello everyone!

Good news, the car is running again! :slayer:

It appears that the earthing cable from the engine snapped a while back and it was held on with electrical tape that came loose over the winter and rain.

I really appreciate all the help everyone has offered me and hope this post helps others in the future.
