Well done for standing up to the management above. I find it sad when they turn it into a 'them and us' situation and treat human beings as robots not as living breathing humans . It's a tough position to be in, middle management, because you are being poulled from both sides, but your staff really are your most valuable asset and only by treating them well can you get the best from them. Good luck, whatever happens .

Agree wholeheartedly. At least where I am, my gaffer is still on our side rather than the 'office' side. Could be very awkward for me if he wasn't, as I'm kinda between him and the operators. Still have to do a little 'piggy in the middle' stuff, but it's not too bad.

Good luck anyway TC, sounds like you were the only manager there that had any idea what he was doing.

I used to sell insurance for a company that targeted old people. Some of the techniques they taught us to us were ridiculous, it was basically legal theft. I just had enough one day and walked, so I've quit a well paid job on principle as well.
