Technical I Need a Dump................... Valve

OK, next treat for the turbo, I have my mate making me up a single piece stainless-steel boost pipe as I speak (with a T piece for the dump valve of course)

Well I was at it i was going to change the dump valve (purely for cosmetic reasons really) but I've realised I don't have a clue what to get!

Are there specific ones that work at particular pressures? is there a comparative production turbo car model that i should look for? will just anyone fit?

This is the one Blue has (in blue, natch!)This will do the job fine, is cheaper, and you can get it in yellow (well, gold, actually)!

Basically, they're very simple devices: they sense when the throttle is closed and dump the boost to atmosphere so the turbo doesn't overspeed.

i got a baileys dual piston on mine loud as fook when 1bar goes through it

What is the benefit of a twin piston over a single piston? i presume yours is the trumpet type? I don't really want it any louder than it is (which is quite loud anyway)

BTW how loud is the std Bailey single piston?

Well my (ex) GF was in Blue with the window open, and her mum rings up "where are you Emma, have you gone to the fairground?" So, to fairly loud. -- I've only been behind your new car for a little while, and Aaron was being gentle, but I'd guess about the same as what you had.

The alternative to a "dump valve" (properly a BOV "blow off valve") is a valve which doesn't dump to atmosphere, but back into the inlet tract (a BPV -- by pass valve) -- often fitted to OE turbo cars.
