I must confess...

A W reg (so mk2) Puntang.

Needs a bit of TLC but its a mobile mechanic who does repairs at a reasonable price. If he can get the thing going again and road legal I think it'd be a nice wee runaround. Speared him about it today anyway, will see what he says.

ever need any help with it then im sure people on here can help before you take it a garage.... i know me and ming know pretty much everything about these engines... and the chasais are quite simple.

Of the 90's fiats, the cento i think had the longest shelf life?

93-04 from cinq s through to sei mk2. Mechanicly more or less the same car with only 2 major landmarks, the introduction of the sporting (it's 1108 would see it through to the end of production with only 1 change to help
Emissions) and a change of panels from boxy to bubbly (cinq to sei)

Uno started production in 83 and is still being made. Not that production life is a true indicator of greatness.
Since thatt's the Uno at 28 years and the 126 also at 28 years. And that's not the 500 and the virtually the same 126 being counted as one car. ;)

Learned to drive in a 5 door 1-litre Uno "Start" with a mighty 45hp. Had no power steering and the largest steering wheel this side of a bus but I loved that car. Incredibly slow, but rolling around the farm tracks/single lane back roads and just going for drives everywhere in the year or so after I'd passed my test it was brilliant. Still kind of hanker after an mk2 Uno Turbo as I still love the squared off shape of the later ones :)

For me, a classic Fiat will always go back to the old 500 BUT, it's only the Abarth variants I really like for obvious reasons. The normal ones have their charm of course, but I just love the boot (or is it technically bonnet?) open, tiny car nature of it.

But anyway though, mk2 Punto as I've said, I didn't get on with really. May have been a duff car, but I wasn't a fan. Really wish I'd had the 16v engine I've got in the Stilo, would've probably been so much more fun but the suspension set up in the one I drove was pants even compared to the one in the Stilo. May have gotten better if I'd fitted the Eibach set up similar to RGZ's, but it always made driving a bit of a chore. They are cheap though and pretty economical. Practical too as the cabin space and boot space, especially with seats folded is rather decent. I reckon if it's the right price and not too shoddy, go for it. When I owned mine, I was barely involved in the club scene and never got my hands dirty, which probably coloured my view of the car. If I owned it now, things would probably be rather different.
