Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: To the rescue............155 HGT Engine

@ Markpro - Sorry m8, i missed your post...it snowed for a few hours and now its freezing on the (ungritted) roads...very dangerous...there are already cars abandoned on the sides of the roads...lol

If the repair bill was going to be about £500-600 i would have begged stealed and borrowed and got it repaired...

But i havent got much cash (well none at all..lol) because the wedding is only a few months away, so i think my best bet is to get a cheap car for a few months until the wedding is over with...

I can then give the car to the missus, for when she passes her test...(I will also save money on the petrol, so i could probably afford another Bravo in a few months the way mine drank the bloody stuff :))

Finding a source of a 2nd hand 5 pot that will be guarenteed is impossible in mainland Europe including Italy.
The problem is that Fiat were not allowed to produce any more new units after November 2000 and therefore every knackered engine after that date had to be a reconditioned one. We had a laugh as we had a garage who contacted Fiat for one and they said that a new engine would be £1800 - but we couldnt have on, but a recoditioned one would be £1795!
You can get non guarenteed ones for about £1200 though if you want to risk it.
I have had a lot of people over tha past year contact me for these engines and if you can find one - snap it up!

Gutted for ya Daz. Seems like HGT's are dropping left, right and centre at the minute. Get it done though coz you'll miss it if you don't.

Shabash!

Smee, That engine is scrap! Trust me :) You'd be looking at a new crank, new ballance shaft, new rods, all new bearings PLUS no-one I know makes oversized pistons. All the bits you can't get need replacing.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: To the rescue............155 HGT Engine

DAZ be brave and get a 20v coupe engine. You would get about 200BHP at first then 230from a remap. Its just getting one that is a prob.

It's something I am wanting to do at one point

re

coupe 20vt is 220 standard..

would be awesome though!

try getting rebuild price from evo cars, search net, but i thin kits www.eco-cars.co.uk! lol

while i was down there they had just put new(rebuilt) 16vt in coupe, so must have sourch for engines.

other than that i was told about a guy called guy croft who is really good with any fiat twin cam engine?

http://www.guy-croft.com/

sure you can get soething good out of this.

daz try and buy a hgt from an auction there was a T reg like yours at HBC near Middlesboro with all round panel damage went for £650 the other week the engine looked mint. let me know how much you want for your engine as i might be intrested if the price is good. my couson reckons he could fix it and i wont have to pay him just parts.
