I live on a really steep hill in Sheffield and it's so icy that most front-drive cars can't get up it...hence the Punto has stayed put! Still, I saw some dozy bint in a Golf lose it going down, narrowly missing my car and all the others parked on the side of the road [:(!]

We had a full on snow storm in Bournemouth. First time it's snowed in 5 years ! The lightning looked cool against a white sky too.
I had a near miss this morning when a mondeo slid back down the hill, I managed to slam it into reverse and get out the way in time.
All good fun.

This is why the "Ice" button on our Marea is so useful, I have yet to spin it despite trying.

The Fiesta I am currently hiring however is a pile of crap, not only has it given me pains under my kneecap but ABS cuts in using geared breaking on the ice. On a normal car I would drift to a gradual halt, on this pile of Ford junk the break pedal bounces and the car starts to slide.

Manufactureres really need to test their cars on ice and snow conditions properly before claiming such things as "safety features".

I live in a cul-de-sac, very little traffic so the snow gets compacted and real slippy. Last year, a woman was standing on the end of her drive shaking her head at me as I came around the corner in a nice 5mph handbrake induced drift (miles away from any cars, kerbs and people before you ask). I smiled sweetly and held the car against the rev limiter in second as I passed her.

She was dead impressed, I could tell:D

Jonnyboy.....your road sounds just like mine!!!! You can count the cars skating past......then stroll to the bottom to inspect the damage!

And also, no uni for me today............They cancelled all my lectures, Fantastic.........No need to sit through hours of "finance and statistics"! Somebody must like me!

yeah that's if you have them!

I had a very interesting drive into uni this morning, VERY interesting. The main roads were clear but some of the quiet ones out of the sun were coated in glass like black ice. I watched an old Gold on big alloys in front of me turn to go round the bend. He just went straight on, over the kerb, and came to rest on the frozen snowy grass. I used my momentum to take me round that bend, just hoping the grip would hold, which it just about did. boy did I have fun trying to park at uni as well, teh car park was well frozen. I could have pushed it in sideways!
