^^thats what my mate thought, took his fine 5 weeks to come through

Many people have got off when this happens, its the law that you must receive you NIP in a timely manner. You can not be expected to remember who was driving the car over a month after the incident! People have got off just because the scamera partnership put too low postage on the NIP and it came second class. It only arrived after 3 weeks, and letter to the scamera partnership pointing out this fact had the NIP reversed:)

i believe the limit is 28 days.

Ok first of all, you probably won't get done. I've had loads of cameras flash me going through them, many things can set them off, weather other object moving etc.

Secondly it has to come through within 14days otherwise it's Void and you can appeal not to pay

Thirdly if it flashed and you were going TOWARDS the camera - ie it was on the other side of the road and you were travelling towards the front of it - you could be doing 60 and they can't have you... the Gatso's that flash can only prosecute a car travelling away from it so it gets a photo of the rear.

Fourthly (if there is a word) you should get some legal plates come on, what you read is true and although not speeding they can still get you for this offense providing they can pick it up on the camera, facing to or away from it.

Fifthly (lol) if you were in a 40 they really shouldn't do you unless youre going over 43 to allow for speedo inaccuracies... if anyone uses a GPS they'll know they're speedo is inaccurate as the speed on your GPS is more accurate surprisingly!

That's my input :)

sorry yes they should get on to you within 14 days, you then have 28 days to reply.

Ok, big yellow camera behind me, two flashes :bang:

I have legal plates in my boot, I had my other plates on for Southend as I was driving back from the sea front and didn't have a screw driver, I had my GPS tom tom on and it said 40mph aswell as my speedo, I was in a 40mph zone. My plates would only be seen as legal as the lettering is a tad smaller than the legal, but it is still very readable.

Yes I am stupid for the plates and I know damn right I am going to have the worst come to me.

Just so I know, what will the worst be?

:worship: Nothing come's within 14 days.

The scamara partnerships are all about revenue, IF theres was film in the camera, then you probably will just get a NIP £60 blah blah, providing that they can read the plate, if its really bad to read it may go further.

Morning,

Attached is my EXACT number plate which was on the car when I got flashed.

Opinions? What do you think I will face?

I wouldn't worry about it, I would worry about the speeding though.

You may get a copper moan about the plate someday, but maybe not. I'd try to figure out if I was speeding, get a friend to follow you down the road while you do 40 and see what theyre car says, double check it is a 40 limit and not a 30. If your speedo still reads right, you have nothing to worry about.

wow you lot really seem to know your speed cameras well.

you should all live in cumbria, its probably the least hot county in the country.

up until this year there was NO permanent speed cameras, only a few random posts for temporary (i.e they put them up thru the day and patrol around them to make sure people don't torch them) cam's. BUt now there are several full time cam's on many main roads, usually in a place where a main a road goes from 60 to 40, so you've got to me doing 40 thru the barrier to avoid a ticket (which causes standstill traffic as people break, next person brakes harder etc etc, standstill traffic in rushhour traffic causing many minor bumps and scrapes.
Brilliant.

quite a few of the cam's have been torched with a burning car tyre.

I can vouch for edinburgh, got flashed doing a clear 50 in a 40 (I think) in a rental car (I rented one to go an visit the university on an open day as my dad was using my punto on business somewhere else) from enterprise rental car in carlisle.
the ticket never came thru, nor was I charged by enterprise for speeding in their car.
again it was in a stupid place, around from a 60 into a 40

He had his GPS on which was showing 40... this is more accurate than any cars speedo will ever be so although your method would show a difference in the 2 speedos (thus making the poor guy panic if his is under reading) the GPS is much more accurate :)

I paniced with my first flash, but if your TomTom says 40 and your speedo you have nothing to worry about! As I said in an earlier post you get something like 3.34mph over the limit before they procecute in order to cover for speedo inaccuracies.

I havnt read all the info it would take too long so someone might have already said this. I have a GPS sytem that is more acurate then a normal cable from gearbox speedo.
This is what i have found.

If you sit in a police car with GPS speed sytem installed witch i am ocasionally alowed to do. the Screen on the dash shows the real speed acording to the GPS. and the speed on the dash at 70 is wrong.

Driving Speed Actual speed Car Wheels Car Make
70 65 Standard Rover Sterling
30 27 195/65/15 Rover sterling
70 64 Non Standard Rover Sterling
30 26 205/60/15
70 66 Standard for V70 Police Car
100 94 " "
70 72 205/40/17 VW Polo Modified
30 31 " "
70 65 Std 13" rims "

I think you get my point.

Just to add I use the GPS to check my speed all the time and i use a lot of cars. all of the unmodid cars show 65 when the speedo shows 70

North Yorkshire has absolutely NO fixed speed cameras at all.
