I got a notice of inteneded prosicution, what is it for though?

just got a notice of inteneded prosicution for "contravene red traffic light ACD"

What does that mean? running a red light? and what will happen to me? points or fine or both?

As far as i know, it means running a red light, and its normally about 3 penalty points on your licence...

It was in nottingham town centre, rush hour, a city i've never been in before and dont even remember it, pretty sure im gonna appeal it, how do i go about doin that?? lol

sound like to me you should have your brakes uprated, instead of modding, so you can stop when you see a red light.

sorry to hear that seb but it dont look good have you any points yet? when was letter dated and when did you skip the light? is it for your bravo or brava? may sound daft but i scraped a car and three months later i got a speeding fine through post for it!!

i wouldnt bother appealing mate. red lights are there for a reason....to stop.!!

if you appeal and its not in your favour then the penalty would be harsher!

accept it and move on m8.

send off for the picture first if there are cars infront of you then you can appeal if not its 3points and a £60 fine and a reasonable insurance hike!

i got 3 points for speeding and my bro got 3 points for a redlight camera his insurance increased by £200 mine increased by £30 bad luck dude gotta open those eyes up a bit more for the fixed cameras.

stephen, his brava is scrap now, so i'd say bravo
its difficult to appeal. thats one where you might have to bite the bullet i'm afraid. btw, i'm still fighting my prosecution for speeding last july! got a court date for March 22 but the ole solicitor is trying to make it so i dont have to go. plea bargaining i guess. otherwise i'm gonna get hit with 6 points and a ine of over £100. Trying to negotiate for 3 plus a £60 fixed penalty notice. which is my best option.

its very black and white...if its on red then it means stop, amber means you should be preparing to stop. so he must of had warning it was going to change..unless he wasnt paying attention to what was going on around him.??

if you go past the light and there is a line of trafic in front of you then you cant move if the light goes red behind you then you move the camera goes flash has happened to me several times in london and i have got off every time with the help of the nice lady in the office where i work

What happened to not entering a junction if your exit is not clear?
Even if it is not a Box Junction, it is common sense and common courtesy not to block the junction.

As far as I'm aware and seen. Traffic light cameras only activate if you drive through them on red.

Some take a couple of seconds after turning red to activate too...

As been stated above, appealing, and failing will cause you more damage in the longrun.

3 points & £60 fine is the basic penalty.

Depending on the speed limit, you 'could' get away with it. 30 & 40 mph limit, no chance, but 50+ you could say you were travelling too fast to stop in time and cause the risk of someone hitting the back of you...

Worth a shot..

BTW, using reflective plates is highly illegal... get caught using them and you'll get a warning to remove them, or if the copper is feeling particually nasty, they'll book ya.

Dear Sirs,

I am writing to you regarding the “Notice of intended prosecution” I have received from the Nottinghamshire Constabulary, to get it through the door was of course a shock to myself and it was by no means expected!
On the day in question I was in Nottingham for the first time, I was passing through and made the unfortunate mistake of passing through a busy town centre for the first time in rush hour, as I did not know the direction I was supposed to be travelling to get back onto my intended route it was slightly confusing, I did in fact see the traffic light in question however it was at the last second and I made a decision at that time that if I braked it could have caused an accident, therefore I feel I used my better judgement and am of course willing to take the consequences however did wish you to know the full facts of the case first.

The problem you have is if that camera is set to activate 2 seconds after the lights have changed to red then that could be seen as admitting Driving without Due Care and Attention couldn't it ?

The problem you have with appealing is that you risk getting more points/fines... you got caught, when you try to make excuses you risk getting caught out. 3 points for the red light should not have a massive effect on your insurance, 6 points would.

seb take it on the chin, 3 points for a red light should not do that much damage.

if you go to court and oppose it and lose you could get more points and a bigger fine
