You already have to tell the passport agency, the inland revenue, and the dvla amoungst other govenment offices when you move house, so obviously you'll need to tell the ID card people too. Hopefully over time some of these things will be integrated, in the meantime I think ID cards are a good step forward.
 
Me too, anything that improves our security and safety without giving up much freedom can't be a bad thing. I personally think that you should always be able to prove who you are.
 
Yes we are entitled to privacy. The government is not trying to stop personal freedom, if this scheme facilitates the capture of more criminals it should improve personal freedom.

I changed my name when I got married in April and I've still only informed my bank, building society, dentist and doctor. Really should get round to driving licence, passport, utility bills and the other little things some time.

Knowing me I'll probably do it about the same time as I transfer the warranty on my car to my name.
