Would you believe it, My car passed its MOT today with two adviserys.

Broken passenger side mirrior and number plate broken.

What a result and considering the old girl has been sat in my mums front garden for 11 months.

I did replace various bits before hand but even so what a result!!!!

Just dont quite know what to with her now, flog her on ebay or keep her.

congrats!! nice innit, both our multiwagons sailed though, my jtd last week and the wifes 1.6 about a month back, no advisorys on either barring a a worn tire on mine.
like you i was suprised - mine on the otherhand takes a lot of abuse and does so much mileage something should have flagged up.
people laugh at us for owning the stilos but come on they are fantastic work horses and dirt cheap to own and run.
we we most likely keep the jtd but try to replace the 1.6 with either another jtd or a newer smaller car, the tax on the petrol is becoming a joke now.

Keep it. Use it, abuse it then scrap it. It's been good to you so why risk buying a lemon when you already have oranges.

LOL na no lemon here im afraid,

VW transporter T5 since feb 2010. Wonderful van.

Old bus is on ebay, Starting at £200.

£200? You're kidding right?
Btw, anyone seen any half decent 5 door hatchback JTDs up for sale? I'm looking to replace my old wagon.. I just can't imagine getting a grande. Am I alone in thinking those grandes are horrid things? :yuck:

Hell, I reckon it's going to be all change on the car front for us the way my old mans active is chucking up 02 sensor faults!

Kidding, Na she is a tad scruffy and needs some work so thought we will start the bidding at £200 and see what happens.

Im not entirely certain i want to say goodbye but needs must im affraid.

Hate going off topic, but it always happens on here & isn't usually me so what the hell - i like the look of the Grande Punto's exterior, but the interior is horrid; thin, brittle plastics everywhere & not solidly screwed together either.

Admitedly many current Fiats/Alfa's do without the nice-touch plastics but they're usually solid & well screwed together - the Grande has flimsy materials and the ones i've seen were all loosely screwed together & wobbly inside aswell. The mechanical quality seems to have a fair few shortfalls too, i blame Vauxhall's input :p

That said they're far more popular than the Stilo, so maybe they do something right. I can't see it myself. The Punto Evo is alot nicer quality, but still not up there with the Stilo as far as i'm concerned. If you want a similar size car the best Fiat replacement for a Stilo is a Bravo, failing that it has to be an Alfa.

In response to the above i was just looking on AutoTrader & saw this:

Hate posting a link to AutoTrader as their links expire dead quick but with the exception of a few paint blemishes this one looks good. 1 owner since 2003 & only 61k, plus what looks like a well stamped history seems a good buy to me because, unlike the fairly well-loved 3dr, the 5 doors often seem to be trashed & usually do without the smart looking alloys, let alone SkyWindow & steering controls for the stereo. I believe alloys were originally optional on 5dr (even Dynamics) & i don't think all Dynamics (certainly not the 3 doors) got Climate Control either.

My dynamic had pretty much everything other than Nav+ and the ESP.
Was the dual opening boot an extra? Of all of the features that was the most useful by far! :D

Thanks for that mate. If it were a bit closer I'd snap their arms off for it but Halifax is waaay too far given that I'm from South wales :p
