its not likely that you'll get a quote from a mainstream insurer. look for specialists like adrian flux

ring them last, they hate to be beaten!

Re: ********!! i can not get a quote on a 20v turbo bravo...anyone have any suggestions?

have you tried any of the insures from teh custom car mags? Or even those in max power, the bulk of insurance companies won't want to deal with you because if it isn't an option on their computer they don't understand what you are telling them and can't generate a quote. You need a smaller company which still has assessors really. Try a few brokers, they might be able to do more.

popups from Budget?
Have you tried `em paul? :)

Re: ********!! i can not get a quote on a 20v turbo bravo...anyone have any suggestions?

lOl just seen this and that is the same problem im having at the mo I have the cash to buy my astra coupe turbo but insurance is a nightmare so im waiting 3weeks till my 21st to see if it comes down as quotes at the mo are around the 4.5k mark. does anyone think that it will make a big diffrence these few weeks or should i just keep going for more quotes now.

I understood that ins' companies are now taking 25 as the "yardstick". I don't think being 21 has the same benefit to your premium that it used to have.
It may vary a bit from Co' to Co' but places I got quotes from it was up to 25. The next useful age being 50. So far that's the ONLY useful thing about being 50+ I've found!

Re: ********!! i can not get a quote on a 20v turbo bravo...anyone have any suggestions?

doubt it will make much difference, shop around more, play them off against each other, say you have use of another car etc etc. 4.5k seems a lot! lol

paul wat u got to think of which department ur going to... and the schemes they have running... insurance is one scheme for one person. every month they get new schemes and change old ones to make them better.

adrian flux have better modified car schemes than they have normal car schemes. u might be surprized if u rang them

I reckon cynic-al is dead right when he suggests a small specialist broker that still uses assessors.

The big Co's only have people just about capable of filling a form in and using a computer. If your car isn't standard they have no idea how to proceed.

Your car needs "one-off" type cover. So specialists like al suggested will probably turn out to be the best bet cause they'll have someone qualified to work out a policy themselves.

Hope you get it sorted. It sounds like an interesting machine.

Re: ********!! i can not get a quote on a 20v turbo bravo...anyone have any suggestions?

Paul.... Just don't tell them!!

Not a problem unless u crash it.. and if u crash a 20v turbo... ur gonna be playing a ickle harp to worry about it!

On a serious note tho paul.. be carefull mate.. i mean.. i wouldn't want u to damage that lovely car!!

re

definately do tell them,

i agree with you Paul, not telling insurance is not an option.

I got my brava insured with the chris knott insurance group, very similiar to adrian flux.

number is 01580 752961

i know the 16vt is lower insurance group as 20vt but i still got insured for 2100 for everythgin declared on my car.

You tried confused.com, they do all the work for you

insurance

£2100! for insurance. By a bike.
You have two problems 1) your car is not mainstream, is modified and far too sporting 2)your age and lack of experience.
You want to buy as cheap and low insurance group car as poss, get a few years no claims such as a good nick Pug 205 for £200, then buy the sprots car of your wet dreams. Wanting a Fiat with a 20v turbo engine at 20 years old what do you expect? No wonder no one will insure you the risk is just too great.

Re: ********!! i can not get a quote on a 20v turbo bravo...anyone have any suggestions?

@everyone... thanks for all you help and oppinions, i could fit a 16vt if i wanted but that just inst the same for me, i am now probably going to go down the cam route (again) and have a play with the head and see if i can brake the 200bhp barrier, aparently this is ok but 200bhp from a turbo isnt...strange but still if it works...

@anon... appreciate your oppinion and understand your statement, but am i really going to go from a hgt bravo to an old 205? i can get no claims on the hgt aswell...also would you swap a hgt for a 205? yes the risk is high but why would that stop me asking the question? i want a 20vt in a bravo, thats what i want so if i can have it i will, i have tried and i can not so i just have to accept that and either lump it or get the additional power from else where... for now it will stay the same untill i have found the best way of doing so and keep the car reliable. Again thanks for the comment

200bhp hgt!

Gas flow, free flow manifold, cat back exhaust, superchip, pipercross and fast road cams! You should hit 200 Eazzzzzy! ( I did! )
