Hi,
I installed my amp, sub and 2 front speakers about 3 weeks ago.
Its pretty simple in practice, but it takes a long while.
The hardest bit it getting the power to the amp:
1. Lift the carpet under the front passenger side you'll see a small rubber grommit about the size of a beer mat, that will have loads of wires coming out of it.
2. Lift the bonnet up
3. remove the plastic protector cap from the fuse box thing (top right).
4. Theres a small push cap on the carpet behind that, remove it and pull the sound proofing away as much as you can.
5. Back in the car by the grommet, push a long phillips screw driver thourhg the grommet, NOT AT THE TOP but at the bottom, becuase you may go thought the wires (not saying anything).
6. You may have to cut it to make a hole big enought for the cable to fit though.
7. Once you've done that you'll have the great task of wiring the in-line fuse on the wire to the battery.
8. The fuse must be as short as possible to the battery, mines about 4 inch.
9. After you've done that its just a matter of pluggin in the power cable to the amp. (you have to put spades on the end to screw it to the terminals)
To wire the earthing wire, (black) from the amp to the chassis - do the following:
1. Lift up the rear seat and locate a big screw on the left, it will unscrew with a spanner. Put the wire under that and screw back into place.
2. screw the other end to the amp with the aid of a spade end.
There will be a power on control from your head unit to the amp, so when the stereo is off the amp is off. You#ll have to consult the manual with your Sony head unit.
Then the last thing is wiring up your sub to the outputs on your amp:
1. IN order for you amp to produce the correct signal and required power for you sub, you will have to do a thing called 'bridging'. This is when you use the - channel from the left output and the + signal from the right output. Consult your amp manual for correct wiring.
2. Then just plug in your sub and fire it up.
3. Make sure you put it on low level first to test its working.
4. You will probably have gain level, frequency response on your amp at least. Frequency is what the sub will operate up to, fine tune it to suit.
-----------------------------------
Remember, dont rush it, if it takes two days so be it - you dont want to go though your wires like i did and had to re-wire the whole wiring loom. trust me.
If i can be bothered, one day ill make a proper tutorial and some pics.
Hoe you can do it!
Just remember when you've done, at least you can say that you done it yourself. and you will know your ice set-up better yourself than if you got someone else to do it!
