Hi everyone newbie to the forum here looking to for an answer to my ongoing issue with the clock and date on my dashboard.
It all started when I installed a dascam into my 2014 500l 1300. I got an installation kit that has an adapter that just plugs into the fuse port and protects both the camera and whatever you plugged it into. As the camera Has a “sleep” mode I decided to plug it into the permanent live feed for the radio so that it has power but goes into sleep mode but if it gets knocked in a car park it wakes up and films.
I had to leave the install as I had to go out and thought nothing of it as I just had the glovebox to put back and the tailgate panel and some trim bits to fit back on. But as it was a very bright day I hadn’t noticed the light in the glovebox and as such when I went to start the car the battery was completely dead. Popped it on charge and everything was fine, reset the time and date and carried on my way. Got back to the car and turned the ignition on (not start, just on) and the clock and date had reset back to factory and clock was flashing. Reset again and went home, but the next day it was back to factory settings and flashing. Thinking it was something to do with the camera I disconnected it and still the same thing set clock, switch off wait a few minutes switch on clock reset. Checked all fuses and they are all fine, got a second hand factory radio fitted that and clock still resets so got “MultiECUscan and did a proxy reset all good no errors and all units talking to each other, still resets. Replaced the battery with a brand new one, still resets.
Sorry to rabbit on but basically the long answer short is no matter what I do when I set the date and time and then turn off the ignition (not started the engine just on position 1) after a few minutes When I switch it back on the clock is back to factory settings.
Things done are:- fuses checked, replaced the radio unit, done a proxy reset and replaced the battery.
Now starting to run out of ideas and loosing the will to live with it. So please if anyone has had this problem or has any experience or advice I will be so grateful.
Thanks for reading and hope I haven’t bored you to sleep.
