sorry, I think I have misunderstood the law. So previously if you kept your car on the road it had to be taxed and insured but if you kept it off the road and taxed (not SORN) it didn't have to be insured. However, now, unless SORN, a taxed car has to be insured.

Is that right?

battery keeps going flat, had it tested and an expensive battery tested said its fine.. so i dunno about that

driving over patches of ice, makes it feel like its torque steering (which it does a tiny bit anyway), alternator belt squeaks a bit at start up, misfiring as got worse as the engine is colder. won't heat above 70 when i have the heaters on even a tiny bit (think thermo is jammed), boot lock was frozen up past few days.

other than that, still down on power, loosing coolant and the expansion tank bubbles a bit now too (y)

Your thermo isn't open, its normal for your car to sit at that temp in this weather as the water is always pumped through the heater matrix on the Cinq (unlike say my Dads Ka which has a solenoid which opens and closes to change the flow of water and therefore control the heat by differing the amount of hot water through) so even if the thermo is working as it should by staying closed until 87'c, as you are constantly sucking very cold air through the matrix the water temp never gets high enough to open the thermo, so if you're getting 70'c I wouldn't worry because I've ran a Cinq with no thermo before and it doesn't even register on the gauge.

Aaron.

ah yeah. that was something they changed on the sei isn't it. (thats why the sei has a cock.. hehe)

I've got a low temp thermo to go on the new engine though (y)

My puntos drivers door lock freezes, so I have to go round to passenger side to unlock it.

Windows freeze up really easily

Car feels sluggish, dont know why but it feels really sluggish and its drinking petrol, maybe because I always have heaters on full blast etc but even at that:confused:

electric windows dont open when its iced up

thats all I can think of for now, but yeah....not liking the cold weather

was running great and now it just feels sluggish as hell, its went from doing 100 miles roughly to £10 of petrol to about 75:(

Touch wood melvin ' ' has been ok - takes a while to heat up and forever to de-mist the inside of the windows, but otherwise he's fine! Seems to like the cold managed to do speeds I thought he was never capable of!

will see how elanor (tehehe like in gone in 60 seconds.. ahem  ) likes the cold tomorrow first time she's been more than half mile away from home in last 2 weeks or so  fingers crossed she doesnt implode or explode or well plode at all :p

Mine has a very cold steering wheel.. Not moving my hands from the 2/11 positions until the cars warmed through - which takes about 10 minutes. Electric windows running slowly and there are plastic creeks and squeaks coming from every bit of interior trim. Engine a bit lumpy on tickover so thinking the VAE valve is frozen/knackered.

Tipo is typical Italian - loves the hot weather, tries to hide from the cold and likes to drink the expensive stuff... Lots of it.

Hellcat you have reminded me of a major problem - alloy gearknob is FREEZING  I usually wear gloves but even once the car has warmed up it's still cold :(

I second that one... and the one about the steering wheel....

My stilo seems to enjoy the cold... is starts with a pop as it were, no soggy ignition like in warm weather, and it warms up quickly. Only problem is it wheel spinning like chuff, cos she's a little sensitive to stalling til she's fully warmed up...
