take spacers off?
Taking into consideration that the Sportings run spacers up front then the larger offset should be rear.
I thought only the Abart models (Sei) had spacers up front. But yes, you are most likely correct. I will be needing spacers up front for my newly acquired set of summer alloys. Too bad spacers aren't allowed here, either. But at MOT time I'll just switch to winter wheels.
By the way, here's a good one:
7x16, 165/40
Stretch'em

A great fit, the tread just inline of the arch![]()

by my eyes that wheel is well beyond the arch
Yes, of course I meant the Sporting Abarth 14s as far as spacers are concerned. Strange that you can't run spacers - apart from during an MoT, very hard to check? What are the consequences if you're caught?
That's just crazy - don't tell me that's really how the tyre has been fitted (and used)?!
it is,but that doesn't matter.
It does over here
Here we measure from the widest part of the arch - is it different for you lot?
The reason for the law (here) is you run a risk of hitting pedestrians and cyclists with the wheel if it is not within the border of the outside of the arch.![]()
Regarding spacers:
Not all police officers are blind and/or stupid, 'unfortunately', so the consequence would be a fine (~£45) and you'd be scheduled for a new MOT (another ~£45). Normally you get a months notice or so, meaning you can switch to a legal setup.
Spacers = MOT failure unless you can find a German TÜV approval, or the if the car has been fitted with spacers from the factory. Only problem is that mine would then qualify as an Abarth-model and I would have to pay an additional tax on the car as it 'changes identity'... :nutter: I believe I'll switch wheels, come MOT time.
Regarding the stretched tire:
Fashion-related. They will run - if I remember correctly the Pirelli P9000 will work like that without a glitch.
The Nankangs he's mounter I'm unsure of. They are cheaper tires, most likely meaning stiffer due to a high amount of nylon. He's definetely running the risk of the tires popping off unless he's running with a quite high tire pressure. And that would lead to poor grip.
Custard >> The front wheels are inside the arch. At least enough to keep the police off his back. I have yet to hear of anyone getting fines from driving with the 7" wide wheels, but beyond that...
Such stupid reasoning. Seems that mirrors are further in than tyres/wheels :/ As to that 16inch Sei - not only is that probably unsafe, but it also looks damn awful. I personally like a bit of stretch, but that ridiculous.

Well me mate mk1 golf has wheel beyond the arch, but not tread, same with me dads offroader. And they both pass MOT's fine
Other than that I can not see why it is so, unless you count the risk of running over a police officers toes when he's pulling you over.
And your saying it like its a bad thing:devil:
Ridiculous is the right word - for some strange reason I like the opposite, balloon-like look. Mainly for the Sei (and my tummy), though.
These look amazing:
7x15's, OZ SuperLeggera :yum:
That looks absolutely perfect - wouldn't call it balloon thoughCan't wait to get my A539s on the Delta wheels!!!
PS Are those 195/45 15?
