I've got a 2009 1.1 Active (the one with the stupid system of no remote control locking and just one lock on the drivers door).
Some scumbag screwdrivered the lock - I am trying to replace the lock/lock barrel. The door panel etc. came off easily without any damage. But I am completely stuck at how to actually remove the door handle/lock itself - I can see one securing screw which I have removed but it is still holding fast and I don't want to force anything. The electric window motor/window channel is totally blocking the view so I can't even see what I'm doing. Has anyone been in the same position and found a solution? Thanks in advance for any help..

There is a protection plate that sits between with electric window when down and the door release cable. This is riveted in and will need drilling out. You should then be able to access the back of the door handle and lock, which is held into place with 3 Screws/torrex bits. Undo these and it should simply come away from the door (y)

I have a Fiat Panda from 2004 and need to do the same job. Regarding the riveted plate, will I be able to put that back after drilling?

Hi, bit late! I have the same late 09 1.1 Eco-Active non-remote Panda (as it was scrappage deal and cheapest o the road) but I have my key stuck in the lock so anyone can get in now! have tried WD40, it was not frozen. Ancaster Catford said it was £500 for a complete door lock set (much cheaper on-line anyway) without even fitting and VAT! Anc say the barrel is not replaceable! Haynes says it is and need to drill out security rivets and thanks for other post re cable ties. Ebay has a replacement lock set (+ passenger and ignition included, single key = £40) but I need to match part no before ordering. Should I go ahead?

I wouldn't worry about part number. Should fit. Make sure it has airbag switch key also. (should be boot, door, airbag switch barrel and ignition).

Will take an hour or so to fit. Nothing difficult just slightly time consuming. I've done it on a 1.1 Active as got a dual key barel set as the car only originally came with one. Only cost £20 luckily

Thanks for the info, an hour seems ambitious!! Drilling and refitting! In the cold! Brrrr. I just called SG Petch and got same quote.....£500 for full lock set itself. I do not mind having two keys. I shall look around, but the car is so vulnerable in the meantime! Airbag barrel is a new one!!! I shall continue hunting......

Ebay have a set for £40. I e-mailed them and asked and they were not sure, but I am pretty certain! ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-Panda-Ignition-Barrel-Lock-Door-Locks-Key-Set-2003-2010-/170851550219?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Safety_Security&hash=item27c78bc40b BTW - They forgot about the airbag!!

Hi again, ta 4 promptness. I have my cordless drill and Haynes at the ready! It is colds outside so going to wrap up. Yes I have WD40d + yanked, twisted, turned, pushed in and out etc.. My car was cheapest on the road, only one driver's lock (central lock no remote) so I am wondering if there is a chip in the key of the new Ebay one that would need to be copied in the second key at great expense. It looks pretty plain to me. Anyway, outside I go into my neighbour's drive, off road thankfully! I shall compare the barrel I take out with the barrel in the Ebay ad, hopefully exact, along with part no. Thanks for your attention. Before dusk, out shopping tonight so need to do something!
