Styling How to paint calipers

I've just done a search for painting calipers and dropped on in here! (y)

I used red hammerite on my polo about four years ago and when I sold it last year they still looked good. I took everything off to do them last time but looking at this thread I think I will use this technique, I will leave them on so i don't have to bleed the brakes afterwards. I've picked smooth blue so I'll try and do them tomorrow,

Yes perfectly fine mate, inn fact it's better than the stuff you buy that's specifically made for the job, it gives much better coverage and from my experience it lasts just as well. It's all in the preperation, just make sure you get the calipers cleaned up and you can't go wrong ;)

I painted my calipers (and drums) blue last year to match the blue trim in my gold Punto. The drums have flaked a bit due to painting them on a cold day and not giving them a good enough clean.
I'm put in new brake pads this week so will give them another coat and clean if needed.

To do my calipers I got a caliper wrench and removed them so I didn't get any paint on the discs or pads and they had an all over coat (where not getting in the wrong places and messing up the brakes).:)

Really tempted to do mine! I cleaned them up today and as the car only has 5000 miles on it they cleaned up pretty well. They were slightly gold for a while and then used brake dust cleaner to get more grit off but it turned the gold look into dull silver. I'm thinking of maybe using gold on the calipers on my blue car... either that or blue. What would you say to gold?

Yeah, might be standard for silver cars...but the Stilo's hardly a normal car is it? :slayer:

Think it's gonna be blue with the blue hoses. Got me a bleed kit and a bottle of Dot 5.1 fluid, so it'll be paint, new hoses, fluid change and bleed all in a one-er. Thank god for time off!

True! Go for it then..just make sure they're very blue :)
