Technical How to fit induction kit?

Re: 1.0 Ie Sx?

if this air filter u have borught is universal then the maximum diameter they giv is 92mm and where u need to put it is 93mm i found this out the hard way the only way to get it to fit is to get a stanly knife n make the rubber on the air filter slimmer by cutting it out. took me 45mins to fit mine and a hammer to boot n it made it sound alot better once it settled in. and i agree gave the uno a little more grunt. but then................. i had a 50mill stainless steel pipe put on with a rage back box wi 2 4.5inch pipes n then i have to say that pretty much drowned out the sound of anything so then i had to buy a 500watt alpine sub so that i could here myself think n then i was just vibrating down the road lol. but boy was my car a head turner n it sounded great loud but great. so cut the air filter it will fit. oh and block the vacume pipe otherwise it runs badly n get a filter for the other pipe the name alloods me atm.

p.s (gaz u still a moderator?? could u ask someone to find out my old account details cos i cant remember them lol? cheers mate)

Frosty,

Not all of us are lucky enough to be able to afford to run an Uno Turbo.

Take me for example – to cover the insurance increase, I’d have to work full time. I’m not enslaving myself for a couple of extra hours every day just for a nicer Uno – so those of us Lucky enough to be able to run a 1.0 Uno tweak as we wish (in peace)… Maybe we already stripped as many pounds off our beloved 999 FIRE Unos and need a little extra.

– You telling me your car is standard? (Personally) I don’t see the point of tweaking an U.T.. They are fast enough as standard for road use? For Racing - Yer go for it.

Regards All,
Louie Bee.

erm....never can be fast enough if you ask me  always NEED to be tweeked (y) i got a "few" mods on mine and i haven't even started yet hehe :D

Re: how to fit induction kit??

I'd love to stick an induction kit in mine, 'cos I know if done properly it makes a good difference. But I don't want to start declaring mods on my already expensive insurance - it'll go cheaper, but mods won't help that.

Re: how to fit induction kit??

OK Dunk M8 I see your point – Please bare in mind I’ve rarely seen a Mk2 UT in the flesh – never mind driven one. There normally too fast to spot lol. On paper UT is pretty mean as standard but things could always be better imo.

Your UT looks good!

Dose the flame from your tailpipe stop anyone pinching your bumper trim lol?

Re: how to fit induction kit??

Hei.

This one is bit off topic, but.

If you lower your car, insurance goes up. I don´t get it - this is also a safety project, the car´s gravity centre will come further down, hence the car is more stable.

Also you have to tell the insurance companies if you change a filter? These are the strangest UK laws.

We must inform the insurance companies if we chip the cars, change engines etc. but this alters the car´s performance drastically, and will therefor be a potential higher danger to other drivers. This also goes on brakes and other safety measures, so the car co-operates with the increase of bhp.

But to change a filter...

Norwegian laws are strickt, but on this theme we are out-lawed.

Just a comment an early friday morning.

Re: how to fit induction kit??

The insurance doesn't neccesarily mean it will go up, but you do have to declare it.

It's all about risk assesment, and modifiers are more likely to cause an insurance company to pay out thousands than standard car drivers - in the eyes of insurance co's. that is.

One question that is asked when you take out insurance is: "has your car been modified in any way from standard spec." You have to yes, if that's true, otherwise your insurance would be invalid. For young drivers, it's ideal not to have complications like that as the insurance is already going to be expensive anyway.

I think at renewal I'll ask them what the difference will be and if it's hardly anything, I'll have one fitted.
