Hi , i'm new to this site , the reason I joined is my neighbour has a multipla
& is having trouble with his alarm , he is elderly & doesn't have a p.c.
so i'm trying to help him out + want a good nights sleep , I think his problem is the volumetric sensor, so i'm trying to disconnect it for him , I was told it could be disconnected in the front interior light , but looks like I may damage the light cover trying to take it off, there is two roof plastic covers 1 at the front to the left of the light & 1 near the centre of the roof ,they both have a unit with wires , anyone know what these are for, could the sensor be I of them

thanks in advance

thanks for that boilermansab ,i was just over at his car & we tried using the key,
but with the car locked with the key & the alarm switched off (no lights showing on dash) after about a minite the dash starts to flash indicating the alarm is on,
it just seems to switch on itself ,

Well if I leave the windows or sunroof open and lock with key the alarm won't go off, so I imagine the volumetric sensors don't arm, but if I arm the alarm with a window open the alarm will sound after a while...maybe just the imobilizer arms with the key!

he is out with the car so i can't check oval screw covers ,i didn't see any covers when i looked this morning , is it possible he has a different model with different light covers than the one you describe,

he has multipla jtd 52 plate
if it is the same are oval screws covers in the clear plastic cover

could you also tell me what i'll find if i get cover off, how many sensors /wires
roughly what they look like, to make sure i disconnect the right unit

I think I'm correct in saying that the Volumetric Sensor array is the Dark Grey section in the pic below, in which case it is removed by prising carefully at each end, you can see one of the latch slots at the right-hand end . . .

If you do need to remove the complete fitting, two screws are under the Sensor array, and the other two are in the openings seen at the bottom.
There are flush-fitting covers over the openings, prise them off with a small flat-blade Screwdriver, or the tip of a knife (carefully!).

BikeDoc ,the picture you posted is the right setup , if that is the volumetric sensor, how do i simply switch it off , is it just a matter of taking front cover off sensor & pulling the wires off , should i disconnect battery first

I'm not sure.
I'd guess that the Alarm would see that as a fault or attempt at tampering.
You could try it and see what happens.
I'd unplug it/them with the Battery disconnected, but don't most Alarms have their own back-up Battery?

BikeDoc i think to be on the safe side as it is the neighbours car , i will pass on all the usefull information that you & the other members have given me & he can take it to the garage where he bought it & get them to disconnect volumetric sensor ,that way if it goes wrong it will be down to them to put it right .

thanks again for everyone's help
