I never knew this before,you can check your car's M.O.T history online :

Worth using before buying a used car to check is work has been done on points mentioned in previous M.O.T's.

What a useful site, I've checked my Panda, a complete set since 2008, my new (2013), two Mot's, the Vauxhall dealer automatically*tests if the last one is more than four months old, and my Suzuki Burgman.
