Is it to buy a bravo without a Red Key? When would you need it? I spoke to Reg Vardy's who said dont buy one without but then went on to say it can be successfully replaced with all ecu, locks etc for 1200 quid. is that too much?

cheers for any a's to above q's

Its not a good idea to buy without the red key. There are some repairs that require it.

How risky ?

Very Risky.

Firstly, where is the red Key ? Did you ever lose a key for your car ?
Secondly they are right that it costs a sh*tload t replace as it involves a new set of keys, ignition barrel, ECU etc. £1200 sounds a bit steep, more like £800+.
Either way, the safest bet is to walk on by, and find one that has the red key.

Re: Re: How Risky??

ok but its a 99T reg 155HGt with a claimed 45000miles on clock for 2200 poonds. owner says he lost it. i know it sounds shifty but thats cheap. even if replaced red key etc and did cambelt job too its still good value perhaps?

what parts on the car relate to the red key?

Re: Re: How Risky??

cheers rob. is that 800 all in or what? c my above post g

Re: Re: Re: How Risky??

Most things ECU related.

£800 for a cambelt, £1000ish for the red key. Thats £4000 for the car, not such a bargin.

You can get new blue keys made and most of the time you will never need the red key. (I haven't yet...)
