Technical how remove gear shifter...

Hello, wanted to ask if anybody tried take out gear shifter mechanizm. wondering it is possible take it from the top ( very small hole where shifter knob is). Possible there is some crack or something damaged, but i can even put hand there to check. Appreciate for help.

You will get more space by removing the surround that goes around the gaiter...if you pull off the gaiter you'll see screws that retain it and one more under the ashtray.

so its possible remove it from inside? not from outside yes? looks not much space to even put hand inside that hole...
