cylinder head/engine rebuild cost on average. Mine decided to go pop this morning. New cambelt fitted 370 miles ago by garage working on behalf on the dealer I bought it from. Is it worth doing.

Car has only done 46,000 miles.

I believe the cambelt has gone (n)

Bugger, i would get on to the phone to them first thing monday. Depends for cost if 16 valves, check shop4parts for valve prices, new gasket set, belts etc and assuming no damage to piston faces then £200 for parts less depending on valves. Labour £££...

They're should be some comeback a few peeps have had there belts snap not long after fitting.

Yes its worth doing..

I'm waiting on a phone call this morning from the boss of the dealers. Be interesting to find out what he says after sending me on my way saying nowt wrong with it. Whether it was related to my other problem I dont know, but its still fooked.

Cheers guys, will let you know.

cylinder head/engine rebuild

you dont need to rebuild anything, just replace a few valves, stick the head back on, and its back to normal. should cost £200-300 at local independant garage, depending on number of valves. however it should definately be fixed under warranty and for free since it is obvious that this problem occured due to the recent belt change.

does anyone know for definite about getting the car back to them. Is it legally their problem or mine.

from a legal standpoint i dont know to be honest mate, id check the warrenty docs and see if anything is written in there

out of good will they should arrange collection but the likely hood is that they will not as its will cost for them. how many miles is it to the garage?

Been talking to Consumer Direct just now about it. It is supposed to be fixed at no cost to me which means I could argue that they pick it up too.

See what the dealer says in a bit.

Its just under 40 miles door to door. So towing is really not an option.

If you haven't got home breakdown, can you get it moved somewhere nearby and call breakdown out and get them to get it to the garage?

Its what I'm thinking, although I dont know if they will check the car before moving it. Engine will be stone cold. Have to wait and see.:(

Ah but you were just visiting a friend and couldn't get it started when you came to leave :)

Great minds (y) :D

Although, by the sounds of it, they will be picking it up. Will find out tomorrow whats going on hopefully.

I'm trying to. Its bloody hard when I've only had the car for 1 week out of 5 now. Its starting to wind me up. Lucky I've got a motorbike to get around on though. No good for shopping though ;)
