Well after mounting my sports catalysator in the Marea 1.8 I noticed to my surprise that there was not only a box in the middle after the cat, but there was also another box after this one, a smaller one that looked like a cat also actually, and then followed by the back box... What is this?? How many boxes, cats , or whatever does this car have??? HELP :)

Another question!!
Where is the lambda sensor in the 1.8 Engine (Marea)????

It's just an extra silencer!
I had a powerflow custom exhaust made on Tuesday and had mine removed :)

Yogis, you will actually find 3 boxes along the exhaust line.

1 small silencing box, followed by the catalyser and then the main silencer box which is at the very end.

Strip of everything including the manifold. Get a four in one manifold with a straight till the very ed, interupted only by the smallest silencer box you can find and in the end a big bore exhaust. Forget the catalyser...it robs power.

Re: Re: How many catalysators???

Hey ShumaniaC

The thing is mine seems to have 4 things!!

I have a Supersprint 4-2-1 manifold, followed by a sports catalysator i put, then followed by a box, then followed by a smaller weird looking box, followed by a back box!!! What the hell!!!!
Also where is the lambda sensor!?!?!

Re: Re: Re: How many catalysators???

It will probably be just a small expansion box.

The lambda sensor should be before the cat, easy to spot as it has wires going to it.

Re: Re: Re: Re: How many catalysators???

Well all of these boxes need to go as they are robbing my Marea from precious HP :)
Another discussion is if it is ok that the car is now down to 850-1000 RPM in idle...is this normal and ok for the engine??? At this speed you can really hear the cams effect hehe

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: How many catalysators???

You won't get a good idle with those cams. Fact of life.

I doubt the boxes are robbing that much power, a bad straight through exhaust will rob more. :)
