Technical How long is yours?

In my never ending quest to get to the bottom of the differences between 500s and the changes, I tend to purchase bits and pieces...

Whilst sorting through my stash of parts... I collected together some steering columns two from a couple of restoration projects and one spare....

When put next to each other I noticed one column was slightly longer...
I am going to make a presumption that the longer column is early (you will see why when I post pics later)

I have two columns that are 678mm long and one that is 725mm long..
that is a fair difference....

So if anyone has a column out of their car.. can they measure it and let me know length/model/year.....

I’ll measure my column tomorrow. Especially with it being an N . Be nice if all owners of N’s get out there and measure your column’s I’m sure it’ll be smaller with it being an N as everything else is .

Ok I’ve measured mine and it’s a whopping 690mm long

do you think it has been stretched or shrunk in the wash?

How I love the the undocumented Fiat 500 part specifications...
do you have a coarse or fine spline at the box end ?


I will try to upload a pic tomorrow of mine....
(and remeasure) these are quite big differences...
