How does you JTD drive?

just picked the bravo up tonight :) so im back on the scene, looking forward to the MPG already!

post some pics up then!!! :)

I've been winding up some 206 drivers.. and they've challenged me.. saying the 206 diesel will wooop the bravo JTD's italian arse!!!

Should i be at all slightly worried???

Im thinking only the 180GTi should concern me.... or are these 206's quicker than they look?????

The Peugoet or Citroen HDi is worse than the JTD, i doubt you have anything to fear. But the GTI 180 hmmmm, maybe you will struggle to keep up.

my old 1769cc 205 stdt would wipe the floor with a JTD.
It had an intercooler and re-calibrated diesel pump, 108bhp at the wheels and 171lbs of torque (dyno tested), far superior handling and manners, weighing in next to a feather.

check the video on this for accleration!!!!!!

Pug 206 diesel will be slower as it has a smaller engine than the JTD and obviosuly if it is rated at 90bhp. Some were and are 110bhp.

The petrol 180bhp GTi you havin' a larf? Get real - compare like with like. This would leave any Bravo including HGT for dead. You want to compare like with like. Compare a BRavo JTD with a Pug 307 HDI 110 or 136bhp for a proper and worthwhile comparison. Does the phrase pick on some one your own size mean anything?

haha @ Mr Anon.

Parkers Figures:

Peugeot 206 GTi
---------------
Engine 2.0 3d (AC) (99)
1997/4CYL
BHP 138
MHP 130
0-60 8 secs

Engine 2.0 (180bhp) 3d (03)
1997/4CYL
BHP 180
MPH 137
0-60 7.5

Fiat Bravo JTD (after TommyK remap)
--------------
1910/4CYL
BHP 100
MHP 130
0-60 8.2

Fiat Bravo JTD (after Lozz remap with New Clutch)
--------------
1910/4CYL
BHP 150
MHP N/A
0-60 7.5 Estimated

So basically we are talking like for like. Theres nothing in it at all for the GTi. The Torque on the JTDs is adequate. Afterall Tommy K was the one who started the conversation and his car is remapped.

Almost forgot HGT.

2.0 20V HGT (154bhp) 3d 99
1998 / 5CYL
BHP 154
MPH 132
O-60 7.7

I think the HGT can keep up with the 180 GTi.

there is no way lozz's car is almost a sec quicker than mine!! I have more torque than him.. so i should reach 60 about the same time... he'll go faster than me tho :(

Doesn't Lozz have really bad clutch slip at the moment? Well we wont really know until you two go head to head at santapod or something. :)

btw... i wasn't the 1 picking the fight/race... it was the 206 boys who said their diesel would wipe the floor with the JTD...

I did tell them it was quick... but i didn't lie when i said it was only 100bhp!!!

it just has 255ft/lb torgue!

that 205 is amazing!!! wouldn't mind haveing a go in that!!!

Was thinking of a 106 rallyee 1.3 as a bit of fun once... but i think the 205 gti wins it still!!!!

My dads got a 180 gti and boy does it fly! the torque steer is tremendous, i think it could burn an hgt(although ive never been in one) but its smaller, lighter and does way more than 137, i had it past 145 and it was still pullin!(i know speedos are out at that speed, but thats just me, its an awesome little car

You're not comparing like with like.
1)Tuned/remapped bravos with standard spec Peugeots.
2)petrols with diesels.
3) 206 is alot lighter than the portly Bravo.
4)if the 206 diesel (110bhp 1.6litre)or petrol GTIs were tuned up as you have done with your oil burning tractor bravos then the Bravo would be slaughtered. Period.

Kerb weights
Bravo JTD: 1165kg
Current 206 3dr GTi 180: 1125kg
Current 206 3dr 1.6 tractor: 1130kg

So not much in it.

Technically yes. But people with GTI's etc don't tend to look for gaining extra power unless they really really want too. Obviously the GTi badge should say it all.

But if you want to be pedantic then the JTD or petrol variants could be modified to reach higher gains even go to the extremes of fitting different engines altogether.

Also the HGT is like for like and i doubt it would leave it standing. :) Anyway like i said before we was talking about a GTI vs a Remapped JTD to begin with.

Anyway i'm not really bothered if the Peugeot is faster than a Fiat Bravo. A cars a car at the end of the day. If i wanted performance i would buy a real performance car not a Bravo.

@ Anon: "are you local? this is a local forum, for bravo owners" not life hating pug drivers with attitude! lol

you know sometime i really wish i hadn't said anything!!

The comparison was with a re-mapped JTD vs a standards HDi & the GTi....

Both of which I was told would kill a JTD no matter wot I had, had sone to it!

Well personally I think it is a very unfair test, cos I think i'd beat the HDi... but the GTi was the 1 I was more concerned about.

The 106GTi can be beaten with the JTD.. but thats only a 1.6 engine.....

It would be an interesting comparison, reguardless of like for like.....

to follow this up, i removed the maf today and took if for a drive, no real difference, i also checked the air filter which was a little dirty but nothing too serious.....the JTD feels like there is something lacking, theres not trubo kick or anything...what can i do??
