Technical how does water drain from scuttle area

When cleaning the van (despite reasonable endeavours to keep water away from the engine bay, given i have removed the bonnet) some water headed down the windscreen onto the scuttle area.
It collected there above that lip shown in the photo and then when there was too much, it just overflowed into the engine area.
I would have expected some kind of drain to help funnel the water around the edge of the bonnet area and down the sides channels.

Is something wrong with what i have got, or should i be doing something to make the water head in this area?

Hi Sprie, You've done nothing wrong, You own a Fiat and they didn't think to include proper drainage. You could design and add something yourself or look at other, numerous, posts on the forum regarding this problem. All the Best, Ian.
