General how do you replace the sump on a multijet ?

hi, when i bought my 55 plate mj a year ago i noticed the sump was very rusty. so i painted it with hammerite. now its weeping from half way up on the front so will have to be replaced soon.) question is . . .which is easier, removing cat/manifold, or will i have enough space to just take bolts out & slide past exhaust pipe i have just fitted.. thank you for any advice. steve

I generally find that working around something under a car (e.g. an exhaust) will cause more work than simply taking the (whatever) thing off to make working space.
