fill your tank to the brim, reset your mileometer and record the number of miles u do untill your fuel light comes on. when you next fill your tank up again note the amount of litres you put in, convert this number to gallons i.e litres divide 4.5, then divide ur miles by the number of gallons = mpg

cheers!

30MPG for a 1.6...is that good?

not really. you should be getting 35 even with a mix of motorway and town driving.

Are you doing lots of short trips, or stop-start driving?
Are you on top of servicing, with proper oil, spark plugs, and a working lambda sensor?
Do you have lead-foot syndrome?
Is your handbrake on when driving?

These are the questions to ask that will help you get back up to 35mpg. Thats about 50miles extra per tank.

well, i normally drive speed limit, slow acceleration. no lol i know my car is running dodgy, its going to get sorted out soon though. and i mainly do trips of 5miles a time. no long journeys really. eventhough i went manchester and back with a full car (full set of wheels, bumper, sideskirts, girlfriend) on the tank. so i think its ok.

sounds ok for a 1.6 mine never did more than 34mpg even if i drove it like a saint.

your mpg is just about right then if you are only doing journeys under 5 miles. Its just getting into its stride when you stop and switch it off, lol. Nowt to worry about then.

mpg

Shaun,

with rising fuel costs, and your modded motor, surley fuel consumption is not a concern.

Be like me, when it gets empty, fill it up . I have to pay £1.07 a litre.

I can remember a time in my mazda 1.3 putting in 2 gallons at about £1.80 and using that for a week !

oh no im not even 1 bit bothered about fuel consumption lol i just wanted to runa test and see hwat it is at lol.

Getting about 38mpg on my bravo 1.6 16v =] probs cos i do alot of motorway driving to work and back.

I'v created an excel sheet i put in the milage, the cost per ltr, and how much fuel in pounds i put in, and it converts it to mpg for me, i can email it to you if you want.
