Got the steering rack in, put the bolts on the ends of the track rods through the eyes on the hub, and then gone to tighten up the nuts, but the bolts spin. How do I get them tightened up and secured?

When you say apply pressure to the ball joint, how do you mean? Should I have it in the wheels turned position? I didn't notice them being tapered...

You have to force the balljoint into the stub axle, so apply pressure in the appropriate direction.

Sorry if I am being frustratingly thick here, but I've never done this before! From what you're saying I'm thinking I need to wedge something to push down on the top of the ball joint part, while I put the nut on from the bottom? Again, sorry if I'm totally misunderstanding, I know how annoying it is trying to explain stuff to someone who isn't getting it.

You've got it spot on. Put one end of a long lever under the front crossmember and then lean on it while it presses down on the balljoint.

Screw on nut,

Cheers, bolted these on today. 1 final question: how do I know how tight to do the nuts??

I wasn't sure if these were tightened up to the max and torqued or if you were supposed to leave any play in them? I don't want to tighten them right up and crush the rubber on the ball joint etc.

Max torque as listed in the manual they are tapered
shaft joints and will only pull in so far that's why you
had a problem getting them off, you shouldn't damage the boots
doing that.
The rod from the steering rack should be set and then the bolts
tightened back onto the track rod end to lock the rod in position.
