hey guys .. im seriously considering getting my self a bravo 1.HLX/GT .. and from what i have read in your farum the car seems to be okay.. what i would like to know is .. how delicate(problematic) are te electronics on the car.. is it a pain in the pocket to maintain the car? please help MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

thanks

i've had a '98 1.6sx for 15 months now and have had to do no repairs to it so far (as he quickly dashes out to the nearest forest in an attempt to touch something wooden)

dodgy electrics

The electrics are the only bad thing about what is generally a reliable motor. You will need a bit of a sense of humour : ) The same can be said with all Italian cars mind. That said, the pros outweigh the cons, and if you can see past the niggling faults I think you'll be quite happy.

Re: dodgy electrics

All this about electrical faults seems very strabge to me. I must be the lick one! I have had my 1997 1.8 HLX well over a year and had no electrical faults.

Some rattles but thats why I had a loud sound system;)

Re: Re: dodgy electrics

I bought my Bravo from new about five and a half years ago and my only complaint is the rear wiper motor. It went cazy for a couple days (where it switched on from its own free will) but ended up curing itself. Apart from that, nothing major.

Re: Re: Re: dodgy electrics

Owned my HGT for 17months and no electrical problems (touching wooden desk!) :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: dodgy electrics

ive owned bravos for almost 2 years and never had a single problem (reaches for wooden chest of drawers).

Re: re re re

Hi

I have had mine about 18 months (1.8) The only problems I have had was the a/c need refilling. Which is a common problem on any a/c car. Also the rubber that holds the exhuast on broke but only £2 for the part.

I havent driven that many cars but I think its good to drive and lots of equipment. My mates are not fiat fans but they like it.

They are no worse than any other car out there. I've had my '97 1.6 for 3 years, only major issue has been the injectors (they are a known issue on the pre 99 1.6) and the front suspension has been overhauled recently. Not too bad for 72k miles.

Certainly had less issues than a friends '95 fiesta. Seized water pump which took the alternator with it, CV joints, clutch, steering column bushes, temp guage not working, fuel guage not working, dash lights dying...

Re: Re: how delicate

It seems like I am the longest Bravo owner around here. FIVE AND A HALF YEARS!!!!!!

You might be the longest.......................

But how many miles have you logged up?

Malta is only tiny.....lol

99 1.6 HLX...had it for seven months, done 10k miles in that time, 47k miles total...love it to bits and haven't a bad word to say about it.
Do expect to buy a new stereo head unit and avoid the 1.4 unless you already have shell/esso/bp sponsorship.

happy driving

Give me ambiguity or give me something else

Re: Re: how delicate

Malta may be tiny, but I have managed to clock up 60K miles tearing down the local raceway!
