hiya lads can anyone help , im renewing my insurance shortly on my multipla 10016v elx 2001 model and my logbook states its a 1596cc but when i get quotes and tap in my car details the insurance companies always come out at 1581cc ?? the car hasnt had an engine change etc so is there any prefix or engine number readings that would prove one or the other , i dont think that the logbook has a printing error on it . any help appreciated cheers gaz

This is a good question. The 1581cc engine was used up to 2000 and thereafter it was 1596cc. The insurance company never updated its data when the engine changed so they only have the original capacity. As you will never convince them otherwise my suggestion is to find an insurance company that recognises your car which is, as you say completely standard and has never had an engine change.
Regards
Stephen

thanks stephen for your reply that makes sense what your saying , i might be better telling the insurance what it states on the logbook , you know what they are like , thanks again its appreciated . gaz

Knowing how insurance companies like to wriggle out of things, it is best to get it sorted out because you may unwittingly give them grounds for not paying out in the event of a claim! Be interested to hear how it resolves itself because most insurance companies when faced with a "computer says no" situation usually say their information cannot be wrong so your car must have been modified which of course it has not.
Good Luck
Stephen
