Hi,
I am using the MultiScanECU OBD diagnostic software on a 2011 Fiat Ducato 2.2l X250.
And I would like to "generate" an error that will show up in that software.

Can you suggest an easy way to do this? Disconnecting an easily accessible sensor for example.

Regards, Martin

Just unplug a headlight and look at the BCM

Has it got a different name in the eLearn application?

I think you may have an "apple".... And I have a "pear"?

It must have been moved due to the water ingress problem that affects these Ducato's.
It won't be to far away. It has a wiring connector & 2 hoses connected.
Photo of a 2014 but it is the same on 2008.

I think I've found it? Back right, against the bulkhead. Not so easy to get to...

Thanks everyone for your help ans support. I think I'll be fine now.

We spend most of our time trying to fix faults & clear codes. I cannot see a reason why you are trying to make one happen.
I think you should do a bit of reading on this forum and learn where all the bolt ons are & what they do just to familiarise yourself.
Just a thought. Good luck

Yep. You are right.
However, for context, I am trying to get to the bottom of why the Snapshot data (bottom left of MultiECUscan error window) is (very often) implausible.
For example: with air temp = mid 20C, engine not running & no throttle, MultiECUscan says -8C, 877rpm & 23% or similar.
So I am looking for an easy to setup/remove baseline test.

And thank you all for taking the time to respond.

Regards, M.

Opps.....!
I think that's a typo.
As stated by @Kahcorp, the black cylinder is the fuel filter. My 2.8jtd has a similar/idetnical filter, but it is reffered to as a "green" filter. Requires special tool to hold it when changing filter elements.

If you can reach the connector on the filter and disconnect it, you should raise an alarm as the ECU will not be able to read fuel temperature.

However I suggest that you follow @Kahcorp 's advice and familiarise your self with the various components. Little use in diagnosing a fault, if you do not know appearance and location of faulty component.

Most times you must not consider diagnostic tool info when engine off (key-on). Sometimes it's default data from program or from ecu itself. Other times if data is unreal then start engine and recheck (example fuel temp sensor), if with engine running data is ok then may be ok. Stay sure you are not in simulation mode.
