General Hit and run

General Hit and run

It is the black plastic to the right of the number plate and the paintwork around the rear drivers side. It's not that bad at all to be honest.
I'll try and get some photo's up at some point.

Car was a Red M reg Toyota corrolla. Registration ended M V M so is very easy to remember. If I see it again I will follow it so I can tell the police exactly where it is .....(and maybe let down the tyres....).

:p

I was hit off my bike by a non insured driver, who actually stopped, but gave me false information. Details were passed to the police once my insurer confirmed there was no registered keeper of the vehicle.
About a week after the accident I saw the car and followed in my car, they pulled over and I pulled in behind them (4 in the car). Walked unsuspiciously to the driver's side and knocked on the window, the guy opened the window and I nabbed the keys. Called the police and explained there was a serious situation. 20 minutes later another car pulled up and another 4 kids arrived - 1 of me 8 of them - hmmm! I wasn't having any of it and chose the biggest who got a right mouthful and was left in no uncertain terms to p£*£ off or suffer the consequences (cheeky bugger even had the front to tell me to calm down before they left. During the altercation, however, the driver legged it. Police turned up nearly 2 hours later:bang::bang::bang: I wasn't happy and tols them so before giving the keys and asking why I had to pay tax for their service. Response was ' we had an emergency (coffee)'.
Good luck, but don't hold your breath.
As you have been hit by an uninsured driver the repairs to your car won't be covered, unless you are fully comp and then bang goes your no claims bonus. There is a central pool reserve to cover against non-insured drivers, but only for injuries.

Welcome to the "My Bravo's had a scratched bumper" club.

I'm in that club too unfortunately. Someone signed my membership up 3 days into ownership. Despite me placing the car in what I thought was a safe space some moron managed to swipe it. Obviously in this day and age you don't own up to such things...

Good news....

I had a call from the police today. They have a registered keeper in Lancashire.... miles away, but a result anyhow!

Anyhow, they are making contact and this keeper has 28 days to reply or potentially face prosecution. Even if he isn't the driver there should be a chain of keepers to follow.

Fingers crossed!

More news.... The owner responded and advised the police that this vehicle was written off (cat D) in April this year. He left it with his insurance company and has no idea how it has come to be back on the road again.

I had a good old rant at the poor policeman about how I find it so unjust that I pay my way through being a good citizen and some arsehole can just cruise around in a car that is probably not even fit for road use. The damage is not my main issue anymore.

Back to square one.... :bang:

Just had a thought, I haven't even put a picture up of my Bravo yet. Here is a pre-damaged one so you can appreciate it in it's full scratchless glory...

Whats happenned is what happens very often, the insurance company have written the car off & told the owner to send in their V5C (log book) so the insurance co can notify DVLA of keeper change, but then havnt sent the form off. Then the car has therefore stayed in the same guys name.

*Never send a log book to the insurance company, it is up to the registered keeper to send it to DVLA Swansea to notify them of keeper change*

It sounds like the car was sold for salvage, repaired (it can be if its CAT C or D) & then sold on again. The Police will probably have to go to the insurance co, find out who they sold it to, then speak to the next people and so on.

The Police could blame the insurance company because they really should know better, or they could blame the previous registered keeper for not sticking to their responcibilities. However, because the registered keeper replied to them promptly with information, i would imagine the Police will come down heaviest on the insurance company in this instance.
