General Highest Miles Punto You have Ever Seen

They are solid engines!
They just like regular oil changes
And changes of parts as required

I was unlucky with 1engine as it hit 100-105k where i lost oil pressure for some reason.... and the head got starved....

My current engines not far off 100k and its happy pulling trailers still! (Just not gearboxes)

It’s an incredibly sturdy little engine. Our 2004 1.2 8v was recently moved on and the engine was still going strong at 180k miles and burning no oil. Only reason it went was I couldn’t face a third gearbox change.

I have a 2000 reg fiat punto 1.2 8 valve.
Bought it new and i have 147000 miles on the engine.
The head gasket was changed at 112k miles, nothing else has been done to engine or gearbox.
pity its mis firing now, might just get rid of it next year, think 19 years is enough for my little fiat.

Bought our daughter a 2004 16v 1.2 in 2011 to learn to drive had 68k on it, seen her thru university and into work now has 141k main expense has been numerous cat replacement. I also bought a 2006 1.2 8v last April after semi retirement (and loss of company Audi A4) to commute to a part time job has 112k nil service history. All our 3 kids first cars were punto, a 55s with no power steering, 60s, the 80bhp 16v and we owned from new a 1995 tdsx which averaged 42mpg! Over 26k and 17 months swapped that for a new 1.9tds uylsse with met paint 2 extra seats and aircon specified.paid 16k for that.

My old -01 engine lasted 190k. New -04 engine is at 140k, we will see how long it lasts. Supercharging might not help at all :D

Jonik, you must be deaf after all those miles:)

My last punto mk1 1.28v same engine effectively as my current mk2B lasted 196K miles before having to salvage due to a crash. I was aiming for 200k+. The engine was still running just fine with only minor oil usage. Needed 3 HGs but one was needed because I stripped a spark plug and the head had to come off.
My current mk2b only has 86k miles. I had a scare with overheating but it turned out I had a leaky radiator and not a HG issue. MK2B have metal HG so FIAT may have solved the HG issue on these engine.
MK1 had nice manual steering no issues at all. MK2 has disastrous EPS which is not working. MK2 should have been recalled for such a common and dangerous fault.

Great going how many miles did you do in the car on the 196k punto?

56k-196k, about 140K.
Short History
60k new cheap ebay HG
85K needed new HG
160K needed new HG stripped spark plug head out
110K new cheap clutch, original clutch plate little dumping springs came of stopping clutch from working.
130K noise gearbox replaced with second hand
165K another gearbox jumping out of fifth, this could have been fixed as the fault was a loose nut holding the fifth gear assembly.
Good body, rotten floor, needed welding to pass MOT.

My uncles HGT has 260k km on it (although his engine blew because of previous owner lol) , I've seen 1.2 8v easily go pass half million mark. Also JTD aren't hard to get pass half million also. Such an awesome little cars, my mum abuses the **** out (revving it to +4500rpm while 30secs after turning it on, almost always low on oil...blah blah) of her one daily and it never missed a beat

There is a 201k Punto on ebay. Listing number 273577041154

I'm sure there was a 250k on there a couple of weeks ago.

I had a MK2 Fiat Punto Mia on an X reg and it had 166k when it went to Scrap back in 2010 it was emaculate and it was scrapped because the power steering motor failed and I was told it was a full steering column [emoji26]

In Denmark I had a blue 188 Punto Sporting with Sprint cams, exhaust and manifold and I managed to get 320.000 km (200.000 mi) out of it and it was still running well. The problem was rust in some areas so I sold it off and the new owner swapped the engine into another Punto which I assume is still running.
