Technical High Engine Coolant Temp - Engine Cuts Out While Driving

Hey Fiat Form,

My 2004 Fiat Stilo Active Sport just starting coming up with the following on dash:

'High Engine Coolant Temp'

When it appears the engine immediately cuts out and I sometimes have to start the car again but the car sometimes kicks back in.

Any idea what the fault could be?

I have check my engine coolant and its full. My friend put blue one in when I lent him the car. Not sure if that is why the error is appearing on the dash as I normally put red engine coolant in. Does it really make a difference?

Still having this issue. Anyone know what this could relate to? Checked my coolant pipes for blockages.

I got a message High coolant temp yesterday. (Abarth Stilo) I have tried to read the elearn manual but have not confirmed whether there is a separate high temp switch or just the one temperature sender unit. If just the one sender then replacing the sender unit is probably the best option.
