High Emissions!! again!

Hiya folks.

MOT time again and yet another failure due to high CO emissions.
Had this trouble last year:
- Replaced the CAT, LAMBDA
- Ran gallons of different cleaners through it
- Always took it for a good raz before!

Couple of garages failed it, one managed to scrape it through.
Went back to the same one this year but its having none.
HC and Lambda are passing but CO are high.
Should be no higher than .30% but its coming in at between .40-.50%
Had a diagnostic test today and.....NOTHING!!
Mechanic says its the CAT but I only just put a new one on last year and its made no difference.
Any help would be greatly appredciated.

when was it last serviced? new oil will do it a world of good,and so will plugs.

this isnt exactly answering your question but when i mot'd mine with new fluids (full service) this was the outcome:

*The emissions pass score was:
On fast idle:
c0 pass - 0.05 max 0.20
HC pass - 37ppm max 200
Lambda pass - 0.98 max 0.97 to 1.03
Normal Idle:
c0 pass - 0.02% Max 0.30*

Take it for a drive and don't change out of 2nd.... give it a right good ragging - take it back and get it on the tester!




Apart from that - a good service and a good run. you need the car to be warm and upto full running temp... if the MOT station is only a few miles away then rag it there - or take a detour and go for a good blast

I had this same problem last year! after the service it passed str8 away! got my mot done last week i got a full service done this time and passed without no problems!

depending on your mot station, id just de-cat it,(tell them its de-catted when booking it in)and ask if they would bypass it, its clear to them that it would fail emmissions test anyway, (modified cars) and therefor they wont do it,

i always do it and luckily works everytime , in a few mot stations,

make sure you go in with your car when booking it in, not over the phone as you could be anyone....

Got all the goods to do a full service this week. So shall get it done and give it another try.
