Hi all,

Just a quick question there seems to be alot of cheap hid conversions on fleabay.
I was thinking of making an investment but was just wondering whether it would be worth putting them into standard headlamps ie not marea ones.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Kind regards

they will still work but i was told they will leave a scattered pattern, hids are **** hot! i have then on alll the time now :)

Putting HIDS in standard lights will lead to a very bright but scattered pattern on the road.

Not recommended at all. You do really need Marea lights to get the light in the right place.

You'll notice a difference with Marea lights over standard, but you'll notice another difference with HIDS in the marea lights.

I've had mine about 2 years and they were a relatively cheap kit but seem to be holding up well.

I purchased a HID kit in a group buy for the coupe and reckon the ones I have in the Brava are better, so I think there is a varying level of output from kit to kit. That said, both kits kick arse and chuck light out like no-ones business.

Avoid 55w kits and stick to 35w. Less power consumption with 35w and there is a rumour the output for 55w would be illegal.

Hi again!!

Thanks for the replies , so from what you are saying the only real option is marea headlights and hids?
What sort of price would you expect to pay for marea headlights?

Thanks for your replies

i picked up mine in a job jot for 150... but had alot more than just the lights... i reckon realisticly if you wanted them soon and didn't want to shop around then about 60-80 quid as most scrapyards have caught onto the idea that pretty much everyone with a bravo wants them... the best bet and what i did was just typing in marea breaking into ebay then sending questions to the people breaking them (private) asking how much they want for them

Then just play it from there

I was considerin buyin bulbs for my brava HID's is it not worth it then, should i wait and buy Marea headlights also? if so, what is the problem on Brava heads?

when you say HID bulbs you dont mean the blue ones off ebay do you? as i've been suckered into them before and in my opinion it made sweet f all of difference

i fancied the white ones like, my red brava wud luk a bit silly wid blue i think, do thy do sod all then?

If you are just thinking standard bulbs tinted blue then you'd actually lose light output.

I managed to get some really white light bulbs before my HID kit but because they were tinted blue (to remove some of the yellowness and thus provide a white shine) they were very dim and useless. Ended up fixing a yellow issue but creating a dim issue!

Standard bulbs: Osram Nightbreaker
HIDS: 35w kit between 4500k and 6000k

do the white bright ones look good then? do i need to buy marea headlights for my brava?

You own a Bravo/a, as a result you have no real choice whether it looks good or not. Its a case of getting much light out the front of the car as possible and in the right places.

All depends on your budget as to what product you buy. The recommendations are above, down to you :)

i've got some in mine now that are the blue tint ones and to be honest i don't even notice them being more white.... have had some white sidelight bulbs before but they looked off with the other 2 lights being yellow... this is on marea polys by the way.... unsure on the standard lights... but yes i would go for the marea ones if your looking to upgrade your lights rather than hid's they do make a hell of alot of a difference and are relativly easy to wire only about a 15 min job...

i was just going to buy replacement bulbs HID's but on second thoughts marea lights will look th part

it'd be worth putting a post on here saying you want some.. just an idea if you find some at a non specialist fiat scrapers you'll get them cheap though....

My Brava/os passed an MOT with HIDS as did my coupe. Depends how picky the mot station is I guess!
