Hi guys :). New to the site, found it through good ol' Google, lol.

Anyway, I just had a quick query about changing the front wiper blades on a Mk2 52 reg Punto, and wondered if I was missing something glaringly obvious, lol.

Having noticed a little while ago that one of the wiper blades was starting to wear ever so slightly, I thought I'd change 'em before I forget. So I bought a pair of aero flat wiper blades from ebay for a couple of quid, just to see what they were like and if they're any better than the 'factory/standard' type ones that are on at the moment.

Being reasonably comfortably with and having done a few VERY basic car maintenance jobs on the Punto before, I thought it'd just be a case of wacking the old ones of and sticking the new ones on. How wrong I was!!!

Anyway, when the new wiper blades came, I went out to the car, and thought it'd be another of my usual five to ten minute jobs, but after a minute or two faffing about trying to get the old ones off, they simply wouldn't budge (almost as f they've been super-glued on, lol). So I went back inside and turned to Haynes to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious. Anyway, I went back and once again pulled the wiper arms away so they stood upright, swivelled them 90 degrees, but unlike in the manual, I couldn't for the life of me see any 'locking tabs' to press.

Having tried that, and failed to see any 'locking tabs' to press, I then tried to yank the blade off, but having had a wiper linkage go in the past, and not wanting to go over the top with the 'brute force' approach and end with a cracked/chipped windscreen to boot, I thought that there MUST be something seriously obvious that I'm not doing  lol, as changing wiper blades should be a two minute job imo.

Anyway, having had a good ol' search of the site without any luck, I just wondered if anyone else had had a similar issue in the past.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers guys, and sorry for the long post by the way, lol.

Hi ,
usually the wiper arm is made of a flat strip of metal ,
the end of which is bent back on itself to form a hook shape,
there is usually a black plastic spacer/bush pressed into there, BUT there are a few different designs..,
some have a little lever that you flick out of the way,
others will have a little "button" poking through the metal hook which you have to press-in to get it to slide,
good idea NOT to force anything though...,

My 02 plate punto is just a wriggle and slide job ( from memory) ,

good luck,
Charlie
