Hi! New Seicento owner (almost)

Hi all!
I'm a wannabe Seicento owner. Am attempting to adopt a red Seicento Young, 1999, from a relative. Needs a bit of TLC, but it's a runner.

Had one for several years, I seem to recall

Will this be your 1st Italian car?
After a rush of blood to the wallet, I bought one new in January 2000. It was a 'Suite', a special edition, based on the 899cc SX, but with the 1100cc FIRE engine, and aircon. Loved it, for 3½ years, and 85k miles, then lots started going wrong all at once. Final straw was the alternator, which due to the aircon needed the aircon pump removed to change. Traded it for a Punto with a CVT box.

Thanks. Not my first – I had a nice green 4-year-old Fiat Punto about 20 years ago. Come to think of it, probably about the same year of manufacture as this Seicento: 1999! Still not quite mine though, need to sort out inheritance and registration paperwork.

Hi & welcome aboard, I've also just recently taken on a 2000 Seicento 899cc SX with just 22k miles on it when I purchased her, it was in a barn for just under 18 months, now it has 25k 4 months on as she is my daily driver, I've done quite a lot to her & spent a small fortune along the way as well 😂 but they get under your skin as they are so much fun & have loads of character. The biggest issue here in the UK is that a lot of them either rotted away or they didn't survive the scrappage scheme era so they are quite a rare sight nowadays on UK roads, luckily my Seicento was really solid with just a few surface areas which were sorted straight away & parts availability is a little bit of an issue nowadays in the UK as well especially with the 899 so some parts have to come from neighbouring European countries, for example I've just had to order a new nearside driveshaft which has a new CV joint, spider bearing along with new inner & outer CV boots all attached ready to go back into the car & it's having to come from Germany. As Panda Nut stated they are a great little car once fettled with as everything I've done with my Seicento has made her a much better car as I've done quite a bit of suspension work, gave her a service with genuine filters, Castrol GTX oil & Denso twin tip spark plugs ready for a UK winter as well as other cosmetic bit & pieces, just waiting on that new driveshaft to turn up from Germany so I can get her back together, back on her wheels & carry on enjoying Seicento life 😁 you won't regret it.

Thanks Matt. I'm maybe cheating on the parts side by living in Poland, home of the Seicento. Hopefully, should be easier to find bits. It sounds like you know what you're doing, though, so you're still ahead of me. :)
