Hello all I have had my 03 reg Active Sport a couple of weeks now and I'v got to say what an excellent car it is.I live in Chelmsford and work as a Paramedic, hence the name i'v used. Now for the problem [?] I have fitted a Sony HU from my old car the model number is cdx4180r, seems this is an ongoing problem with most non OE HU's so here we go. All the speakers work apart from the OE sub, from the back of the OE radio cassette I pulled off a small yellow connector which I think must be something to do with the sub or maybe the radio code, the plug has four wires going into it,if anyone has any idea's as to the solution it will be appreciated cos the sound system sounds crap without it.Sorry if this post sounds like I'm thick, but I really am when it comesto problems like this. Thanks in advance and this site is great

hi there

yes ths is a common problem. all down to fiats superb wiring anyway
the small yellow block of wires you do not need as that is there for the radio code check and as you no longer have the factory stereo its not required. the blocks you need conneceted are the two big ones. in my 2001 punto one was black one was white one of these provides the power connections and one does speakers. your factory fitted sub receives power to turn on from what is normally the auto anntenna pin/elec arial pin. so you stereo needs to have that. have you got the maunal if so check in there.

1 2 3 4
5 6 7 8

these numbers represent the pin locations for the bottom block of wires which provide the power. pin 8 is a thick black earth wire and pin 3 is the auto antenna wire that you need. check to see if there is a pin on back of your stereo in that position.

also just a long shot as yoru car is so new but in the sub there should be a fuse on the top just check make sure its in and ok.

if u are fitting an aftermarket stereo, you should have an extra wire coming out the back of the stereo labeled amp or rem, you can simply wire the sub power wire up to that, it should do the same job as your antenna pin, and will still turn the amplifier within the sub off when the car is off!
