HGT and curious whining noise

Just had one of the knock sensors replaced and now my HGT has an odd whining noise, sounds a bit like a supercharger. The whine is not noticable below 1500rpm, but is very loud at 2500rpm. It's then overshadowed by other engine noises above 3500rpm.

Any ideas?

RyanHGT had a similar problem with his 147 a few weeks back...

Either it was the tensioner or the Aircon was empty, can't remember which it was...

there are far too many things it could be, best go to a garage.

I had the very same thing with my HGT, I took it to two different garages. One of them eventually looked at the tensioner and managed to get rid of the noise.

Although, I actually quite miss it now, very Colin McRae.

If it's a tensioner then I'd get it looked at sharpish, a fecked tensioner (even if it's not the cambelt one) can lead to catastrophic damage.

mine made a noise like that and it was a pulley or sumit? but it wasnt in the engine it was 1 of the outer belts tentioners.. an i had the air con done aswel and happy days noise gone..wasnt expensive aswel as i had planned....
