Grande Punto help

Hi I have a fiat punto grande 2007 model. When I started it this morning It made a noise as if it was being started incorrectly and a message came saying
excess fluid switch engine off. So I did, I left it a few minutes and started it again and it seemed to start fine. Also when I was driving it last week it was raining and it was making a sound like a fan belt squeal but then it stopped the sound seems to be intermittent.

And lastly how do you know if your gear box is on its way out please??

You can try go up a hill with a faulty gearbox and the car will struggle. Your rev counter will go up but speed won't go up just will idle or go down. Gearboxes don't usually go unless been drove like crazy. If need new one then they are not cheap but got be careful that doesn't leak oil on the clutch (happened to me in the past)

a worn out / or contaminated - Clutch can slip under load,

we need more info,
engine type / fuel , 5 or 6 speed g-box..,
miles covered, when was clutch last changed, etc,

AND a description of the "fault",

Yeah clutch can but I had a new clutch done on a mk2 punto and still caused same issue till got gearbox done.
