Hi everyone

Can you please help me out. I ve bought some wheels for my Bravo they were off a Rover 220 Coupe, When i bought them i knew the central bore may be a size smaller and the PCD was 4x98mm. Could somebody please explain what the central bore is (pictures if possible)

Thanks

Re: Re: Help!

The centre bore is the big hole in the middle. This sits over the centre of the hub on the car and must be a snug fit as it takes ALL of the weight of the car off the bolts.

your wheels will be a 100PCD with a 56mm bore. You need to have the bore machined up to 58mm to fit a fiat and get a set of wobbly bolts.

DO NOT EVER use wheels with a centre bore that is too large.

Re: Re: Re: Help!

thanks Tom

any idea's how much this will cost? and what sort of places will do it

SO i m guessing that there is no chance at all that they will fit without getting them enlarged?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Help!

Nope, not a chance. :)

You need to locate a small machine shop with a big enough lathe. Look in the yellow pages under engineering. There are usually a few who will do it for you. Best to find the sort who run from a shed in some little industrial estate rather than the big companies.

The time will be setting up the wheel on the lathe, once one has been done it should be quite quick. My local machinest charges about £40/hr and I'd expect it to take about 1hr.

thanks very much Tom

any chance the place you know is in sheffield?

Alan my know somebody if he's on here today

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Help!

the only one i know in sheffield is woods engineering. They are quite good on price and nice people but their work can be a bit rough. i hade some acetal pins turned by them for work, i asked for 35mm long +/- 1mm, they came in at 38mm! Didn't complain as they still did the job and we needed to get on with it!

Get them to agree to a size and tolerance in writing, by drawing if possible.

Talk to them, they are decent people, tell them what it's for and why it needs to be so accurate and they should be ok.

Their fax no is 01142767346, the tel is probably the same but for some reason they are not on the contact database.

They are in one of the railway arches not far out the town centre near the parkway, next to the spitfire graveyard!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Help!

Do you mean them shops under wicker arches? If so i know where you mean!

cheers Alan i ll give thema call later

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Help!

if your going down the parkway into sheffield, and you get to the bit where it goes from a 50 to a 40 and from 2 to 3 lanes. You turn right there at that funny junction onto a dual carriageway, then right again at the lights, then under the arch and turn to the left. There just down there. If that helps!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Help!

As daft as it sounds i know where you mean! I used to park my car around there when i worked in town, only cause it was free!
