re:andy

What type of headunit are you running Andy?

Have you replaced the standard Fiat unit?
Also you say you've replaced the front speakers, but not the tweeters. Which speakers have you put in the front doors?

Good Music

Hi Andy......I replaced my back speakers with a set of Sony 6X9's and it sounds really basey. I suppose what it is what you really want and for what price.

I'm still running the standard Fiat head unit. Nowt speacial but does the job......I think the replacement is dog ugly (the converter). If Fiat or anyone else supplys a part to fit a standard unit in replace of the fiat's I would like to know. I would the part to have a cover over the unit....to keep with the curvy effect of the dash.

As has been said already, it all depends on what u want.
U can either go the way of seperate amps and subs, but these can b quite costly and require good installation knowledge or u can simply upgrade the existing components.
I went 4 the latter and put a pair of Sony 4-way 200w 6x9's on the parcel shelf, using the wires from the factory fit rear speakers. I then replaced the door speakers with a pair of Pioneer 5.25's and the dash tweeters with a pair of Kinetic silk dome tweeters. I swapped the original head unit 4 a Sony 650 CD Unit and that suits me down 2 the ground. Very simple 2 install, quite cheap (Head unit £160 approx, speakers about £100 all 2gether). This gives me a good thumping bass, nice mid range and a great top end. Sure, it's not as bassy and as powerful as a amp & sub install, but it sounds good and I can whack it up with no discernable distortion.

At the end of the day, it comes down 2 budget and personal taste. There r loads of people on here who have huge ICE installs that would b more than happy 2 point u in the right direction regarding equipment and prices. Also, try www.fiatforum.com and go 2 the ICE section. There's some good tips in there.

All the best,

Rob.

Alternative converter

Espeedup.com do an alternative facia converter with a door on the front. Sadly they have a minimium order for mail order so you will need to buy other things as well.

sub, amp, speakers, HU = good music

Hehe, there is no bass if you have no sub man. 6x9 are a poor exquse for an bass :) The only thing that counts is an sub with an amp.

this is my sub. DLS W512, only 210w rms, but can shake you pretty good, I messured 136.1 dB with an only 150w rms amp... :)

all costs for it?
sub = around 60 pounds
amp = 100 pounds

Re: sub, amp, speakers, HU = good music

I may be way off the track here but try making a few holes in the polythene inset in the doors. It will alow airflow and reduce vibration/noise.

re help

wow! Fanx a million. Reassuring to know that there are still decent helpful people in the world! I think I will visit my local ice retailer on your advice and bother them. For the info i Have kenwood components front and rear but they are well below acceptable and the tweeters I thought were good enough to stay. Cant play dance music at the moment as the sound is very bad. I will keep you guys informed as to what happens. Cheers!!!!!!
